Jake Baker-Cliff
With my unique design philosophy of accessibility and function as a form of problem-solving - I am guided by a vision that fashion can inform social activism and improve positive attitudes — my passion for visual storytelling from product to campaign with meticulous attention to detail and obsession with authenticity, I design with archive understanding to develop technical garments with considered purpose. With a focus on universal design principles, I create innovative solutions that cater to a wide demographic of users’ needs - a mission to enhance and change lives. My background in sportswear design kicked off with the concept for wecanfly awarding me a 4-year scholarship endorsed by Sergio Tacchini. In an interview on receiving the scholarship, I said, "I want to create garments that have the power to make a positive impact on people’s lives" - A vision that guides the mission of wecanfly to this day - to change the perception of disabilities in society, a brand created for all, disability is not inability. ‘wecanfly is the future of fashion—a disruptor, activist and change-maker' - The Future Laboratory.
